Narcissism is a spectrum-disorder which means your parent may have a few narcissistic traits that show up sometimes, or a full-blown personality disorder which defines their relationship with you entirely. If one of your parents was narcissistic, then when you realize what’s been going on, everything begins to make sense, and you can heal and move on! The first step is right here!

When we see ourselves not being the parents we want to be, the most noble thing we can do is reach out for help. I help my clients find and heal the emotional blocks that are preventing them from connecting to their children in the way they wish they could. As a parent can create cooperation, respect, and nurturing into our day-to-day relationship with our kids.

Most adult children of narcissists have a hard time figuring out what's not feeling right about themselves. Upon discovering that there was a mis-fit between what you needed and what your parents could provide, often the pieces of your life's puzzle start to fall more into place, empowering you to heal and move forward! My work is not about blaming or finger pointing.

Choosing a therapist is an important decision. I’ll write a bit about myself so you can begin to get a sense of whether or not I’m the right fit for you.
I help people to establish, or re-establish, their connection with their inner truth/ core/ essence/ feeling of self. Often this is lost when we are raised by parents who couldn’t provide us with healthy nurturing, guidance, and support, and we adapt, throughout our childhood years, in an attempt to make ourselves feel like our homes are normal and our lives are fine. “They’re ok, I’m the one who isn’t. So I just need to be _________…” is how the unconscious refrain goes.
What sets me apart from other therapists is my ability to cut to the chase – discovering together with you, not only what went wrong, but how to repair the damage and “Reclaim Yourself.”
If you’ve tried therapy before, you probably already know how important it is to feel understood, to feel safe, and to be able to be perfectly honest – even about what you’re not happy about with me - your therapist! My favorite clients are honest, courageous, and desire to be kind to themselves and others. Those are the qualities I try to bring with me into our sessions together. With those qualities as the foundation, I find that our work is satisfying and usually profoundly life-changing! (I know that’s a big statement, but it’s true – that’s what keeps me showing up every day. )
I understand Parental Narcissism and the trauma it brings in its wake. My official specialty is narcissistic trauma. People who find themselves dealing with this include adult children of narcissists, people struggling with co-dependence, boundaries, self-esteem, communication issues. I have a deep understanding, both from years being a “parent trainer” in the Early Intervention system, and from my own experience parenting 4 dynamic, amazing kids, about how children grow best. This prepared me to help you learn to both “reparent” your own inner child, and to best relate to any children, young or old, that have you as their actual parent.
My passion lies in guiding and escorting my clients as they learn how to love and appreciate themselves, protect themselves appropriately from inappropriate behaviors of others, and to love the people in their lives as healthily as possible. And if it’s what you feel you need right now, I’d love to work with you!
